"I Finally Did It" is a mixed media collage I created using felt, sequins, and various embellished fabrics. This piece speaks to the story of cutting my hair. As someone who had hair beyond my waist, I never imagined a different reality for myself. Even with my hair as damaged as it was, I held on to it because it was familiar and I was afraid of who I would be without it. When I cut it, I entered into a deep state of growth; hence the juxtaposition of the flower in the handful of cut hair. Cutting one's hair is a major change that most agree contribute to one's evolution and a renewed perspective of self love and beauty.
